The Economics of Compassion Initiative is hosting a free “Sanctuary as Jubilee” evening Community Forum and Conversation on March 16, 2017, with Rev. Troy Jackson.

Rev. Jackson is Executive Director at the AMOS Project and former Senior Pastor at the University Christian Church. He will share perspective on moving away from a debt economy and will discuss Cincinnati’s Sanctuary Movement. Peter Block and members of Jurisdiction Resident Advisory Board (J-Rab) – which advocates for social justice and represents more than 15,000 public housing residents – will also speak at the forum.

The forums are designed to include education, connection and action. The event will be held at First Unitarian Church in Cincinnati from 6 to 8 p.m. Visit the Eventbrite page to register.

The Economics of Compassion Initiative gives light to the Old Testament idea of a Jubilee year, and that traditional top-down measures for poverty alleviation are historically exhausted. A compassionate economy is cooperative, communal and generous.
